Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Permanent employee, Full-time · Helsinki

Your mission

You will help us develop our next-generation acoustic camera and other devices. As part of a small team of embedded developers, you will design, implement, test, and debug the software on our devices. The embedded team works closely with research engineers in implementing our proprietary algorithms and analytics and with our web & cloud developers to ensure the devices work properly with our online services. As part of the acoustic camera renewal, we are renewing its Operational System, which underlines the need for developing the Linux Kernel.

The embedded team consists of a lead developer and two embedded developers. The most critical tasks for the team in 2023 are releasing our wholly renewed, next-generation acoustic camera and developing our C++-based, cross-platform Software Development Kit. We have 2-3 releases annually and pride ourselves on having backlogs with minimal outside interference. Most of our time is used in building new features. Our whole R&D organization has 15 developers at the moment: 2 in analytics team, 4 in cloud team, 6 in hardware team and 3 in the embedded team.

Our business has grown around 2x every year, and we are highly profitable. Our products are used globally, which also reflects in the nationality of our personnel of ~50 people.

Your profile

Our ideal candidate has worked on commercially viable embedded software in a critical role for at least 6 years. You may have a background from having studied relevant fields of science or use part of your free time in hobbies related to software or hardware. You’re a problem solver at heart and an engineer at the head. We all share enthusiasm for work, have a proactive attitude, are open, and want to continue learning. Therefore we expect similar traits from new colleagues. We are curious to learn what products you have built in the past and your role in building them.
